In her new book, "City of Light, City of Poison," author Jessica Lamb takes us on a journey through this hidden history, revealing the sinister secrets of Paris's past. From the gruesome murders of the French Revolution to the poisonings of the 19th century, Lamb uncovers a side of Paris that is rarely seen.

The Poisoners of Paris

In the 19th century, Paris was home to a thriving black market in poison. Arsenic was easily obtainable, and it was used by both men and women to kill their enemies, rivals, or even just their spouses.

Lamb tells the story of Marie Lafarge, a young woman who was convicted of poisoning her husband in 1840. Lafarge was a beautiful and intelligent woman, but she was also ambitious and ruthless. She saw her husband as an obstacle to her happiness, and she poisoned him in Free Download to inherit his fortune.

Lafarge's case was one of the most sensational trials of the 19th century. She was found guilty and sentenced to death, but her sentence was later commuted to life in prison. She died in prison in 1852, at the age of 45.

The Murders of the French Revolution

The French Revolution was a time of great violence and upheaval. Thousands of people were killed in the streets of Paris, and many of them were victims of murder.

Lamb tells the story of the September Massacres, a series of massacres that took place in Paris in 1792. During the September Massacres, over 1,000 people were killed in prison yards and on the streets.

Lamb also tells the story of Louis XVI, the King of France who was executed during the French Revolution. Louis XVI was a weak and indecisive king, and he was unable to control the violence that was sweeping through Paris. He was executed in 1793, at the age of 38.

The Dark Side of Paris

Paris is a city of many contrasts. It is a city of beauty and romance, but it is also a city of darkness and violence. Lamb's book "City of Light, City of Poison" reveals the sinister secrets of Paris's past, and it is a fascinating read for anyone who is interested in the darker side of history.
