By Quentin Meillassoux

In For and Against Method, Immanent Critique philosopher Quentin Meillassoux mounts a sustained attack against the all-pervasive role that correlation plays in contemporary thought. Meillassoux argues that correlation, or the idea that we can only access reality through our own concepts and categories, has led to a profound misunderstanding of the nature of reality and has prevented us from grasping the true nature of the world.

Meillassoux begins his critique by examining the work of Immanuel Kant. Kant argued that we can only know the world as it appears to us, through our own senses and categories. This means that we can never know the world as it is in itself, but only as it is mediated through our own minds.

Meillassoux argues that Kant's critique of metaphysics has had a devastating effect on modern thought. It has led to a widespread belief that we can never know anything about the world beyond our own experiences. This has led to a kind of philosophical paralysis, where we are unable to say anything meaningful about the nature of reality.

Meillassoux argues that we need to break free from the constraints of correlation and embrace a new kind of metaphysics. This new metaphysics will be based on the idea that we can access reality directly, without the mediation of our own concepts and categories. This will allow us to finally understand the true nature of the world and to overcome the philosophical paralysis that has plagued us for centuries.

For and Against Method is a challenging and provocative book that will force you to rethink your most basic assumptions about the nature of reality. Meillassoux's arguments are sure to spark controversy, but they are also essential reading for anyone who wants to understand the future of philosophy.
