About the Author

Patrick Roy was born in Quebec City, Canada, in 1965. He began his NHL career with the Montreal Canadiens in 1984. He played for the Canadiens for 10 seasons, winning four Stanley Cups. In 1995, he was traded to the Colorado Avalanche, where he played for another four seasons, winning two more Stanley Cups.

After retiring from playing, Roy became a coach. He coached the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 2005 to 2013. In 2013, he was hired as head coach of the Colorado Avalanche.

Roy is one of the most successful coaches in NHL history. He has won the Jack Adams Award as Coach of the Year twice, and he has led the Avalanche to three Stanley Cup Finals.
